Cursor Workers Launches: Run Cloud Agent Infrastructure on Your Own Hardware

Cursor has launched Cursor Workers, announced at AI Engineer World's Fair on April 27. The product lets developers run Cursor's cloud-agent infrastructure on any machine — laptop, Mac mini, or cloud VM — with agents spawnable directly from cursor.com web or mobile. Workers run in isolated per-VM environments with their own DB, cache, and auth stack, matching the architecture Cursor uses for its internal fleet of thousands of cloud agents per day. Cursor 3, a full VS Code rewrite with an agent-first UI, accompanies the launch.

Why It Matters

Cursor Workers removes the primary cost objection to running large-scale agent fleets by decoupling orchestration UX from cloud billing. Combined with Cursor 3's manager-of-agents interface, this completes the self-hosted "software factory" stack for engineering teams that want full control without sacrificing Cursor's orchestration capabilities.
