Anthropic Secures All of SpaceX Colossus 1 Compute
Anthropic has secured full use of SpaceX/xAI's Colossus 1 data center in Memphis — over 300 megawatts and approximately 220,000 NVIDIA GPUs that became available after xAI shifted training to Colossus 2. The deal deploys capacity within the month. Effective immediately: Claude Code 5-hour rate limits doubled for Pro, Max, and Team plans; peak-hour throttling removed for Pro and Max; Opus API limits raised 10–16× (tier-1 input: 30k → 500k tokens/min).
Why It Matters
The deal resolves Anthropic's critical compute shortage that had throttled Claude Code and the Opus API for months. For builders, the step-change in rate limits makes large-scale agentic workflows and production Claude Code deployments economically viable for the first time.
