Xiaomi MiMo 2.5 Pro: Tied #1 Open-Source Agentic Model
Xiaomi released MiMo 2.5 Pro, now jointly ranked #1 open-source model alongside Moonshot's Kimi K2.6 on the Artificial Analysis intelligence index. In a live benchmark, the model autonomously built a complete desktop video editor—multi-track timeline, trimming, crossfades, audio mixing, and export—producing 8,000 lines of code across 1,800 tool calls over 11.5 hours without human intervention. A multimodal variant (image + audio) is also shipping. Xiaomi has not yet released weights but states open-source publication is imminent; the model is currently accessible via API and online chat.
Why It Matters
MiMo 2.5 Pro is the clearest demonstration yet that agentic coding capability has crossed the "ships a real product" threshold in open-source models—and it comes from a consumer electronics company, not an AI lab.
